First Look: Kevin Hart Pesters Slyvester Stallone And Robert De Niro In ‘Grudge Match’
In the upcoming Warner Bros.’ comedy, comedian Kevin Hart joins the two screen legends as a fight promoter who tries to get Stallone and De Niro’s retired brawlers back into the squared circle.
Grudge Match, a boxing movie which stars the aforementioned thespians, has debuted its first official image which gives longtime fans a close look at both veteran actors. As you can tell, the two aren’t quite in the pugilistic shape that they were three decades ago, but who can deny the allure of seeing Rocky Balboa and Jake LaMotta face off in the ring?!
The film was originally conceived and written by Tim Kelleher, with rewrites by Doug Ellin (Entourage). Stallone and De Niro play two 60-something-year-old boxing rivals named Henry “Razor” Sharp (Stallone) and Billy “The Kid” McDonnen (De Niro), who want to pummel on one another again, decades after their last title fight. Kevin Hart plays Dante Slate Jr., the fight promoter who orchestrates the event. The image above is probably a scene where Hart’s character is trying to persuade the lifelong bitter rivals to get back into the mix.
Grudge Match marks a reunion between the two battle-tested screen vets who starred together in the 1997 crime-thriller Cop Land, which was directed and written by James Mangold. With no trailer yet released, we can expect the Warner Bros. picture to hit theaters this year on Christmas Day.
