The wait is over for Lil Wayne’s Dedication 5 mixtape. Originally slated for an Aug. 30 release date, the fifth installment in the DJ Drama-hosted Gangsta Grillz mixtape series comes after Lil Wayne apologized to fans for his under par delivery in 2013 and promised he’d “work harder if it kills me” on his upcoming music. Dedication 5 is to be a return to the classic freestyles and skits that have made the Dedication series a cult hit since launching in 2005. Lil Wayne opens the mixtape up by asking himself “What does dedication mean to you?” The 29-track project includes some new faces like The Weeknd and Chance the Rapper, as well as some old friends like Birdman and Mack Maine. Weezy raps over Kendrick Lamar’s “Bitch, Don’t Kill My Vibe” and Kanye West’s “New Slaves.” Could this be his redemption? Listen up and let us know what you think in the comments below.
