Currently in Southeast Asia for her Diamonds World Tour, Rihanna made a pit stop on the gorgeous island of Phuket in Thailand. No stranger to selfies, the “Pour It Up” singer posted photos of herself in various bikinis, on a boat and even with a cute little furry monkey on her shoulder. “Look who was talkin dirty to me!” her caption with the monkey read.

Small problem: That cute little monkey was a slow loris, a protected primate in the country.

As Rihanna’s stopover in Thailand is national news, word of the illegal monkey photo made its rounds, and eventually to police. Two young men — aged 16 and 20 — were arrested for using the monkey as a photo opportunity for tourists. The men could face up to four years in prison and a 40,000 baht ($1,300) fine for harboring the protected animal.

Thai officials have been trying to crack down on the problem for years. “It’s like a cat-and-mouse game,” Weera Kerdsirimongkon, a Phuket district chief told the AP. “But this time it’s bigger because a celebrity like Rihanna posted the picture, and there were more than 200,000 ‘likes’ from around the world.”

We hope that monkey is back up in a tree somewhere eating a banana.
