This summer found actor Sacha Baron Cohen removing himself from the long-gestating Freddie Mercury biopic, and now Captain America star Dominic Cooper is rumored to step into the Queen lead singer’s unitard.

Due to disagreements with the living members of Queen over the content and tone of the film, it looks like Dominic Cooper may be stepping up to be the king crooner. Latino Review originally cut off a rumor which found Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe attempting to circle the leading man role.

The belief is that Cooper, who played a young Howard Stark in Captain America, will be more likable than Cohen, who wanted to do a “sex, drugs and rock ‘n roll” rated-R version of the late singer’s life. Either way, the surviving group members of Queen have final script and director approval, and will be looking to tell the story of their fallen comrade who died of AIDS in 1991.

Up next currently for Dominic Cooper is the video game adaptation Need for Speed alongside Breaking Bad‘s Aaron Paul.
