Ladies, Does Size Matter – For Your Wedding Ring?
If you want to have a really interesting, spirited, and hilarious conversation amongst your male and female friends, bring up women’s preferences pertaining to marriage and money, and then immediately proceed to step back and cover your eyes as the sparks begin to fly. I was reminded of this fact last night when my friends got together and someone brought up a statement Kerry Washington made in her new interview with Lucky magazine:
“I never wanted to have a ring that I would feel uncomfortable riding the subway with. My wedding band and engagement ring are the only things I can say that I wear every day, I pin them to my clothing on set. That way, I always have them with me.”
That is her way of saying that although she is a Hollywood star who is married to a professional football player, she would prefer to have wedding set that is more subtle than over-the-top. When my homegirl brought that up last night, my boys and I responded to that quote in unison, with the same exact word:
While we may believe that Washington has no problem rocking a modest ring, we know most women not only care about the size of the ring, but most women will also judge their man’s “true love” and willingness to be married almost exclusively on the quality and carats. Of course, many women will read that sentence and utter some crack about men need to know the difference between girls and grown women, or something like that, but I think most of our beliefs are firmly rooted in solid ground.
