Our favorite girl-next-door, Gabrielle Union is off promoting her new BET series Being Mary Jane. During her rounds, Gabby talked with and discussed how the show is a breath of fresh air from the rowdiness and brawlic way from reality shows. She explains that it gives Black and Latina women an example of working together, friendship, and how to resolve conflict without fists.

“We show conflict resolution that is compassionate and respectful,” she said. “Black Women and Latinas need to see ourselves accurately on television without it being this, you know violent unfortunate cat fight & crabs in a barrel.”

Being Mary Jane premieres January 7,2014 at 10pm on BET.
