Lil B To Become Sports Agent?

Lil B is setting his sights on a new business venture: a sports agency. The California rapper recently took to Twitter to advertise his services, requesting athletes who follow him to direct message him and send in their highlight reels. Last year, the Based God (born Brandon McCartney) attempted to join the NBA D-League’s Santa Cruz Warriors but failed to make the team.


His Jerry Maguire-like aspirations seem peculiar on the surface but B’s initial request seemed to spark some interest from his followers. Dabbling into the sports realm is no easy endeavor (ask Jay Z). The NCAA has strict regulations for its athletes but according to official guidelines, it is not a violation if a student-athlete merely talks to an agent (as long as an agreement for agent representation is not established) or socializes with an agent. The athlete can not agree verbally or in writing to be represented by an agent in the present or in the future for the purpose of marketing the student-athlete’s ability or reputation. If the student-athlete enters into such an agreement, the student-athlete is ineligible for intercollegiate competition.
