The former Go, Diego! Go! star is slated to star opposite Jack Whitehall in ABC’s upcoming comedy show, An American Education, based on the BBC Three series Bad Education.

Whitehall, who created and starred in the original series, will reprise his role as Alfie Wickers, who is now a British transplant and an unorthodox young teacher in the San Diego public school system.

Afie really loves and cares for his students, but often his youthful, naive enthusiasm puts him at odds with the test-obsessed administrators.

Rosie Perez has signed up to play Rita Gomez, the school’s tough-as-nails Vice Principal, who rules with an exceptionally manicured iron fist. Throughout the series, she will serve as the enforcer and intimidating force who Alfie is intimidated by.

Up next for the Brooklyn, New York acting talent is Gods Behaving Badly, the ensemble comedy/drama that follows Greek gods living in modern-day New York. She will play Persephone who will directly intervene in the lives of a young couple.
