Daft Punk May Channel Star Wars For Grammy Performance
As rehearsals for the 56th Annual Grammy Awards get rolling in Los Angeles, tidbits have begun to surface about the performances. One detail, via The Hollywood Reporter, drops dime on dance kings Daft Punk’s upcoming appearance. Known for wearing robot helmets, the mysterious French duo’s signature accessories will reportedly have a theme during their Grammy stage set: Star Wars.
During tomorrow night’s (Jan. 26) show, Daft Punk will be joined onstage by Stevie Wonder, Nile Rodgers and fellow seven-time nominee Pharrell Williams. The performance — the duo’s first since their Random Access Memories release — will reportedly include Wonder’s “I Wish,” as well as the duo’s singles “Get Lucky” and “Lose Yourself to Dance.” Sources tell THR that Daft Punk will don Star Wars star trooper helmets that seems to be from the franchise’s Empire strikes Back era.
Daft Punk’s Random Access Memories is nominated for four Grammys this year: Album of the Year, Record of the Year, Best Dance/Electronica Album and Best Engineered Album, Non Classical. The twosome is also nominated for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for the Williams-assisted smash, “Get Lucky.”
