American Idol‘s former personality and judge filed a personal injury lawsuit on Thursday against UVASUN West, Inc., claiming that she burned her leg during a tanning treatment.

The 51-year-old singer-dancer claims that the company burned her severely on January 20, 2012, following a tanning treatment.

The documents, which were filed at the Los Angeles Superior Court, found the former L.A. Laker girl alleging she purchased a SlimStar infrared body wrap treatment.

Said situation, to Abdul, was applied “negligently, carelessly and recklessly” and led her to suffer “severe and painful burns all over her body, with an especially severe second- or third-degree burn on a portion of the plaintiff’s left thigh.”

The injuries continue to cause Abdul “great mental, physical and nervous strain, pain and suffering, and loss of earning potential,” and she has since went on to seek medical attention. Abdul is seeking unspecified amounts in excuse of $25,000.

We will continue to update once comments from the defendant are available.
