Tia and Tamera Mowry Tearfully Reflect on Racist Remarks About Their Marriages [Video]
Our favorite celebrity twins brought honest and raw emotion to last night’s episode of “Where Are They Now?” on OWN. The biracial twins, who rose to fame as teenagers on Sister, Sister, spoke candidly about life in the spotlight and dealing with public commentary about their marriages.
Tamera fought back tears as she revealed the painful comments she’s endured for marrying husband Adam Housley, who happens to be white.
“I’ve never experienced so much hate ever in my life. I get called, ‘White man’s whore,’ the new one, ‘Back in the day, you cost $300 but now you’re giving it to ‘em for free.’ Stuff that, me as a person, could never even fathom,” she shared. “I can’t even think of these words. It’s very hard for me to think of it because I’m a product of it. My mom is a beautiful black woman and my dad is an amazing white man. I grew up seeing a family. I didn’t grow up seeing, ‘ooh a ____ with a white person!’ So it’s very shocking to go through this.”
She continues by saying people have gone as far as to say Tia married “right” by marrying a black man, to which her sister responded: “I’ve had people say that you [Tamera] done it right by marrying a white man.”
Let’s hope their words don’t go in vain and people realize just how hurtful their comments can be. Watch the heavy segment below:
