Drake says his OVO owl design started from an Egyptian hieroglyph.

Last August, jeweler Michael Raphael filed a $50,000 lawsuit against the rapper alleging that he illegally jocked his design for the OVO owl chain. Now Drake has responded in legal documents saying that the chain’s design is inspired by an ancient Egyptian hieroglyphic that is more than 5,000 years old, according to TMZ.

Raphael is suing the “Trophies” rapper for copyright infringement, and demanding that the court force Drake to hand over all of the copies of the bling.

Since the design cannot be credited to the rapper or Raphael, the Toronto rep has asked the case to be thrown out. Developments are pending but for now, he can still wear every single chain even when he’s in the house.
