Nas To Perform ‘Illmatic’ In Full On Tour, Release Documentary

Nas is preparing an ill celebration.

For the 20th anniversary of his legendary debut Illmatic, the VIBE Impact Award honoree will not only be releasing a special double-disc edition of the 1994 classic, titled Illmatic XX, on April 15, he will also be performing the entire album on a year-long tour, which includes dates on the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in Indio, Calif. on April 12 and 19.

There will also be an accompanying film Time is Illmatic to commemorate the album. According to the official website, the feature film documents Nas’ life Queensbridge, New York and the social conditions that contributed to his upbringing. It also delves into how his mother’s contributions and his father’s musical background inspired the making of one of hip-hop’s most celebrated works.
