Jay Z is receiving bad press for his choice of jewelry.

At a recent Brooklyn Nets vs. Houston Rockets basketball game at the Barclays Center (Apr. 1), the “Holy Grail” rapper was seen wearing a Five Percent Nation symbol hanging off his chain.

In a past interview with the Breakfast Club, Charlamagne Tha God asked Jigga, who was wearing the same chain at the time, what’s the importance of that symbol, and the Roc Nation Sports leader said, “Religion is like a personal computer, you let people in if you want to.”

However, others are confused by the Brooklyn native’s affiliation with the religion, that believes “white people are devils,” black people are “the fathers and mothers of civilization” and the “original people of the planet Earth.”

In an interview with the New York Post, representative of the Five Percent Nation, Saladin Allah said, “Jay Z is not an active member — no one has vouched for him. It was always understood that you don’t wear the regalia if you don’t totally subscribe to the life.”
