Senior Derrick Gordon openly admitted to being gay yesterday (April 9) in an interview with ESPN and Outsports. The 22-year-old guard opened up to his family and coaches about his sexuality, just days before his official public announcement. “I just didn’t want to hide anymore, in any way,” Gordon told ESPN.

Gordon says that he was inspired by NBA Center Jason Collins ,who came out the closet last April.  Collins responded on Twitter shortly after Gordon’s courageous statement, saying how proud he was of him.
