Ne-Yo To Receive Special Honor at 27th ASCAP Rhythm & Soul Music Awards

Singer/songwriter Ne-Yo is no stranger to the internationally-recognized ASCAP Rhythm & Soul Music Awards. Having taken home numerous honors at the annual event, he hopes to match that success at tonight’s (June 26) show. Speaking with, Ne-Yo gushed at the special honor that he is set to receive at the 27th ceremony.

“This is the first time I’ve received anything of this magnitude from ASCAP,” Ne-Yo said about the prestigious ASCAP Golden Note Award. “It was definitely a surprise and not something that I was expecting at all. I’m especially happy, grateful and gracious about it. I honestly don’t feel like I deserve it just yet. I feel like I have a whole lot more work to do before I deserve something like this prestigious award, but I’ll damn sure take it [laughs],” Ne-Yo said.

The award is only given to is presented to songwriters, composers and artists who have achieved extraordinary career milestones. Previous recipients include Sean “Diddy” Combs, Jermaine Dupri, Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis, Jay-Z, Quincy Jones, Alicia Keys, LL Cool J, Lionel Richie, Usher, Pharrell Williams and Stevie Wonder.
