The Roots Remember High School Talent Shows With Boyz II Men: ‘They Used To Cheat With Glitter!’
It’s no secret that The Roots attended the same high school as R&B vocal group Boyz II Men back in the ’80s.
But according to Questlove and Black Thought, back when both groups were students at Philadelphia High School for the Creative and Performing Arts, the singers who’d become Boyz II Men edged them out in an annual talent show called Sentimental Journey by using props.
“They used to cheat with glitter,” Questlove told Marc Lamont Hill of HuffPost with a laugh. Guess it’s still so hard to say goodbye to yesterday.
