Watch: Trey Songz Talks Justin Bieber & Sex Symbolism With Larry King
On the cusp of his July 1 released of his album Trigga, Trey Songz recently stopped by Larry King Now for an intimate interview. Discussing his early life, being a sex symbol, Justin Bieber’s N-bomb and Jay Z, Trey opened up to King in the rare sit-down.
“Initially in my career, it was more-so about survival,” he told King “It was about separating myself from others; it was so many R&B singers coming out the time. And up to this point, being able to say that I have six albums, sound even weird to me. I remember everything and all the preparation that went into the first one.”
Trey opened up to King about being raised by a single mother, as well as his relationship with his father, stating that it has been a while since they spoke.
“I haven’t talked to my birth father in almost four years,” he said. “I think I may be still bitter a little bit actually. At this point, I want to have a conversation with him, a real conversation. We’ve spoken over the years, but he’s never been real with me as to why he hasn’t been in my life.”
The subject of Justin Bieber’s recent controversy also came up during his interview with Larry King. Trey relayed his support for Bieber, cosigning the sentiments of 50 Cent and Floyd Mayweather.
“I think the fact that he’s owned up to it and not ran away from it is something that we need to very much encourage, you know, because people do make mistakes and people do have blemishes. But [we like to] to act like we don’t.”
