Dear White People is about to be the film you won’t stop hearing about. The movie, written and directed by Justin Simien, is a story of African American students at the fictional Winchester College, where a riot breaks out over an extremely ignorant “Unleash your inner negro”-themed Halloween party thrown by the white undergrads. The film stars Tyler James Williams, who plays Lionel Higgins, who is recruited to be an undercover spy for the white-student newspaper; and Tessa Thompson, who takes on Samantha White, a student activist and head of the university radio show “Dear White People”.The flick was praised by critics at the Sundance Film Festival, where it won the Special Jury Award for Breakthrough Talent.
