Nile Rodgers and Prince Funk Up David Bowie’s ‘Let’s Dance’
Following high-profile 2013 collaborations with Daft Punk, Disclosure, and Avicii, Nile Rodgers has spent the better part of this year in the midst of a solo career resurgence. Last week, he released the hedonistic disco jam “Do What You Wanna Do,” and he’s currently in the midst of a string of big festival dates under his own name. Over the weekend, he made a stop at New Orleans’ Essence Festival where he enlisted none other than Prince for a cover of David Bowie’s “Let’s Dance.”
Rodgers produced the original incarnation of the track, but the Purple One’s lead guitar fireworks give the live cut a special kind of spark. You can watch some footage, mostly of Prince’s guitar work, above via Consequence of Sound.
