Another day, another horrible Twitter decision. Kim Crenier, a GOP secretary in Florida’s Duval County, took to Twitter this past weekend with her sentiments regarding the resulting riots in Ferguson in response to the grand jury decision not to indict Darren Wilson. Her suggestion on how to return to peace in the city? Fire hoses. According to a local CBS News station, Crenier tweeted the following: “A suggestion for Ferguson- fire hoses. Grt big fire hoses, serious water pressure. Kn0ck those thugs over. They probly need a shower anyway.” SEE ALSO: GOP Staffer Resigns After Publicly Insulting Sasha And Malia Obama Now, local activists, are calling for Crenier to resign, according to The Washington Times. When interviewed after her comments surfaced, Crenier claims she never considered the offensive nature of her tweets with regards to the Civil Rights Movement, during which blacks were violently sprayed with hoses. “It didn’t even enter my head. I didn’t even think about it,” she said. “And I’ve apologized for that, for the insensitivity of that. I should’ve given it some thought. I’ve apologized to people for that. But you know what? Enough is enough now. I don’t think this is news anymore.” Crenier has not yet resigned. Watch her response to her tweets below: video platformvideo managementvideo solutionsvideo player
