VSessions: Jazmine Sullivan Covers Whitney Houston’s ‘I Have Nothing’

Jazmine Sullivan either has no fear or her mask game is flawless. Surrounded by a replacement band and several unfamiliar faces, the 27-year-old Philadelphian with the booming alto has been tasked with covering Whitney Houston’s “I Have Nothing.” Yeah, the song with the swift range-changes built for sopranos. One of the best mezzo sopranos to ever do it in particular.

Still, Jazmine, a perfectionist who, ironically, looks for fault in perfection, is ready to take on the gig. She clears her throat. The piano comes in at ground-level then builds for nine seconds before Jazmine’s voice takes off. Press play and digest this audible treat.
