Lupita Nyong’o And Don Cheadle Join The List Of Actors Not In Support Of This Year’s Oscar Nominations
Oscar winner Lupita Nyong’o is the latest celebrity to speak out against the Academy for their lack of diversity. While the debate and outrage rages on in social media and online, the Star Wars: Force Awakens actress took to her Instagram page to voice her disappointment.
“I stand with my peers who are calling for change in expanding the stories that are told in recognition and the people who tell them,” Nyong’o said.
Don Cheadle, who’s working diligently on bringing Miles Davis to life in his self-directed film Miles Ahead was nominated in 2004 for his portrayal in Hotel Rwanda. Upon learning of the Oscar nominations, Cheadle took to Twitter to sarcastically poke fun at the slew of black actors who were snubbed.
