The Weeknd Donates $250K To Black Lives Matter

After making a $50,000 donation to the University of Toronto in an effort to support its Ethiopic Studies Program, The Weeknd is in the spirit of giving.

According to reports, the Grammy award-winning crooner cemented his support of the Black Lives Matter movement by pledging $250,000 to the Black Lives Matter Network. The national organization fittingly has a branch in The Weeknd’s hometown of Toronto.

The Beauty Behind The Madness artist openly expressed his outrage following the back-to-back police killings of Alton Sterling and Philando Castile in July by issuing a call to action which he has promptly abided by.

The Weeknd is currently hard at work in the studio, so it’ll be interesting to see if he infuses his socially conscious opinion on his upcoming releases.
