Frank Ocean Is Being Sued By His Father For $14.5 Million
Frank Ocean’s father has taken a very public approach in taking up issues with his son. The R&B’s singer’s father, Calvin Cooksey, has filed a lawsuit against the artist born Christopher Edwin Breaux, TMZ reports.
The lawsuit is a response to a letter that 29-year-old singer penned on his Tumblr after the Orlando nightclub shooting in 2015.
“I was six years old when I heard my dad call our transgender waitress a faggot as he dragged me out a neighborhood diner saying we wouldn’t be served because she was dirty,” the note reads. It continues, “That was the last afternoon I saw my father and the first time I heard that word, I think, although it wouldn’t shock me if it wasn’t.”
According to Cooksey’s court documents, the story is false, and has “damaged his financial opportunities in film and music.” Frank’s father is suing his son for a whopping $14.5 million in damages. Cooksey isn’t trigger shy with lawsuits, either. Back in 2014, he sued Russell Simmons for $142 million for allegedly calling him a deadbeat dad — Billboard reported.
