Suit Up! 5 Reasons Why You Should Be Playing 'Halo 4'

VIBE Pop Culture Posted November 7, 2012
Many wondered aloud if the wildly popular "Halo" series could continue after Bungie Games decided to leave for greener planets. But for all of its expected action and drama, the new "Halo 4" answers a lot of gamers questions and provides one of the best indications of where the video game industry is heading. To its credit, 343 Industries has retained the intensity gamers became used to but upped the fidelity, the gameplay and the storyline to next level status.

Without giving too much away, Master Chief awakes from cryosleep to reunite with Cortana, his longtime AI companion. The year is 2557 and gamers now suit up, once again, as Master Chief, John-117 to stop the Forerunners from wiping out all sentient life in the galaxy. Unless you're a super-duper fan, you probably haven't played a lot of "Halo" in recent months, and that's why we're here to give you the swift kick in the pants you need.

A New Enemy Awaits —

All that is known about the Forerunners was learned from the various artifacts of their creation, found on the planets Reach, Earth, Sigma Octanus IV, Harvest, Arcadia, Sanghelios, Kholo, and Janjur Qom. The Forerunners only ruled the galaxy for 20,000 years before they disappeared. They were preceded by another extinct race known as Precursors — and now they're up to you to stop!

Multiplayer Introduces The "Halo-gram" —

While players will have the option of crafting multiple custom loadouts, it is the usage of the hologram that will put a smile on most gamers faces! One of the most useful abilities in "Halo 4," gamers can challenge the optics of would-be Spartans as they rack up XP points.

You can see it for yourself in the clip below:

A First Step In A New Direction —

343 Industries aims to differentiate itself from Bungie by making "Halo 4" the first part of a three-game arc. By now, you've already seen the Machinima web-series "Forward Unto Dawn," and 343 Industries is offering gamers "a more complete connectivity" between the video games and the novel. Little information has been released regarding the trilogy storyline, but developers have claimed that "Halo 5" will be a much darker title before the conflict is resolved in "Halo 6".

In the meantime, you should get acquainted with "Halo 4" by hitting up your local GameStop!

Call Of Duty Is No "Spartan Ops" —

"Halo 4" is presenting a new story-driven game mode, titled "Spartan Ops," that can be played solo or cooperatively on two-player split screen and on Xbox Live with up to three other player. By getting your hands on the game, Spartan Ops will serve as a great replacement for the Firefight game mode that featured in "Halo: Reach".

The Visuals Will Blow You Away —

The graphics of "Halo 4" are outstanding in their detailed depictions of characters and background environments. Whether examining the moles on Dr. Halsey's face or the individualized movement of little bits of wreckage, each scene is treated with careful attention to the smallest element.

You should be sure to see this game in action by getting "Halo 4" right now... after you cast those ballots!
