NFL Admits Mistake in Redskins vs. Panthers Game

Though the Washington Redskins suffered a tough loss this past Sunday (Nov. 4) after losing to the Carolina Panthers, it may not have been entirely their fault

The NFL has admitted to making a crucial mistake during the game and released an official statement. A first-quarter touchdown scored by Panthers running back DeAngelo Williams should have been disallowed, based on a rogue whistle. The Redskins’ record fell to 3-6 after the 21-13 defeat.

“By rule, Carolina should have been given a choice of putting the ball in play where Williams was ruled to have stepped out of bounds — first and 10 from the Washington 17 — or replaying the down — first and 10 from the Washington 30,” the league said.
