'Today' Show Anchor Mike Leonard Retires After 32 Years

VIBE Posted December 14, 2012

Veteran news anchor Mike Leonard announced his official retirement from broadcasting this past Thursday (Dec. 13). Leonard has served American TVs for decades with quality journalism. He will be missed by all, especially his family at the Today Show.

AllDay News Reports:

He announced his retirement with an incredible special tribute to a not-so-ordinary person in his own life — his wife, Cathy — who has inspired him "to see the beauty in our everyday existence.”

"Your stories...are a microcosm of you," said Matt Lauer after Mike's final segment aired and the tears were wiped away. "They all have incredible heart, they're told with kindness, and hope, and modesty. They are understated and yet so powerful, and that is you in a nutshell."

Check out a news clip below:

"Mike sat down with his fellow anchors for one last "Leonard's Look," which paid tribute to his work and his family. Mike Leonard has become famous for writing a particular type of story — stories about everyday people who are often overlooked. Many viewers tweeted saying they had tears in their eyes during his on-air goodbye and that they will miss his segments and his stories very much." - AOL News
