1 Million Free McMuffins? Get In Line!

Have you had your break today? McDonald's will give away 1 million free McMuffins in China next week - is it worth a plane ticket to Beijing?

The 1 million free McMuffins giveaway will coincide with World Consumer Rights Day, wherein Chinese state TV will air an exposé Friday on companies accused of violating worker rights. McDonald's was included in the corporate shaming last year, but claims the timing of the 1 million free McMuffin giveaway is purely coincidental.

They are hardly the only corporation launching positive PR moves in advance of the Chinese show. Walmart and Nissan are engaging in some consumer goodwill, and both companies have been nabbed on World Consumer Rights Day in the past.

Maybe 1 million free McMuffins will deflect some of the anger!
