10) Medicine For Melancholy (2008)
Director: Barry Jenkins
Starring: Wyatt Cenac and Tracey Heggins

More romance than comedy, but definitely nothing too dramatic, what makes Medicine For Melancholy so good is everything it’s not. This is not a Hollywood-manufactured love story; it’s a small, independent, tastefully shot flick by a first time director whose innocence shines through. If you’re one of those people saying, “Medicine for what?” do yourself a favor and Netflix this one.

9) Why Did I Get Married? (2007)
Director: Tyler Perry
Starring: Tyler Perry, Sharon Leal, Malik Yoba, Janet Jackson, Michael Jai White, Tasha Smith, Richard T. Jones

Even the most casual Tyler Perry fan will acknowledge the self-made film mogul got something right with this 2007 hit. Instead of showing young couples struggling with falling in love, Perry took the idea one step further to show young couples struggling with staying in love. Come on haters, clap for him.
