A Texas woman who is still alive and kicking at 105 says that a daily dose of bacon has helped her reach the triple digits.
"I love bacon, I eat it everyday," Pearl Cantrell told NBC affiliate KRBC when asked the secret to her longevity. "I don't feel as old as I am, that's all I can say."
Cantrell, who loves to dance, recently celebrated her 105th born day with more than 200 guests over a three-day affair.
Even Oscar Mayer had to partake in the festivities sending a Weinermobile to send her a special delivery of (wait for it) bacon.
There is some scientific research that supports Cantrell's bacon-loving diet. A University of Zurich study published by the journal BMC Medicine in March discovered that eating little or no red meat can be a risk factor for early death. The downside: too much bacon increases the risk of bowel cancer.
But if Cantrell can do it, so can we.
