With the tragic passing of Don Cornelius, BET took the time to remember the Soul Train founder. 106 & Parl hosts Terrence and Rocsi spoke with Funkmaster Flex and The Roots’ drummer, ?uest Love, about Don and his importance to music.

?uestlove on Don Cornelius: I’m just so heartbroken about this loss this is such a devastating loss beacause, I just want people to know that Don Cornelius was single-handedly responsible for the idea of afro-centricity. When we speak about afro-centricity, we talk about pride within ourselves. the whole idea of black is beautiful. The fact that he used Soul train as a platform to teach us that we were beautiful and that we should be proud of ourselves. Thats probably one of the most revolutionary ideas to come after the Civil Rights period, and I’m, so devastated that he’s gone.”
