Police in Chicago, Illinois are still investigating a violent teen mob that took place at a local mall over the weekend. 19 young people from ages 13-18 were arrested in the melee.
Authorities says signs were thrown, fights broke out, cars vandalized, and kids treated for minor injuries when over 30 teenagers started fighting. The Ford City Mall was particularly crowded on Saturday afternoon (Feb. 23) because of a scheduled appearance by Mindless Behavior. Initially, the incident was thought to have been related to the band's performance but the concert ended before the riot even started.
CS Monitor reports:
Ford City Mall senior general manager John Sarama says the incident wasn't related to an appearance by the boy band Mindless Behavior, which ended about 45 minutes earlier.
Police say a large group of teens started causing chaos inside the mall. The disturbance continued in the parking lot, where some teens climbed on top of cars.
