Last night, (Jan. 15) the world watched as film and television stars got dressed for one of entertainment’s most prestigous nights.

The award show served several unexpected winners as the show kicked off. The first shocker of the night was when actor Idris Elba took home Best Actor in a miniseries or a movie for his role in Luther. He was up against some tough contenders like Downtown Abbey’s Hugh Bonneville.

Kelsey Grammer took home the Globe for Best Actor in a drama for his role in Boss. He prevailed voer Breaking Bad and Boardwalk Empire actors Bryan Cranston and Steve Buscemi. Matt LeBlanc won Best Actor in comedy over Alec Baldwin’s 30 Rock and Johnny Galecki’s The Big Bang Theory. LeBlanc’s role in “Episodes” isn’t as prominent as the other two, but it was important and popular enough for him to win the Globe.
