The MTV Video Music Awards always promise surprises when it comes to wins and losses. Early on in the 2013 awards show Selena Gomez beat out Justin Timberlake, Miley Cyrus, fun. and Bruno Mars to take home the Best Pop Video award, proving that this was anyone’s game. Up for the night’s most coveted award were Macklemore & Ryan Lewis feat. Wanz for “Thrift Shop,” Justin Timberlake for “Mirrors,” Bruno Mars for “Locked Out of Heaven,” Robin Thicke feat. T.I. and Pharrell for “Blurred Lines” and Taylor Swift for “I Knew You Were Trouble.” Tough competition but Timberlake took the Moonman ultimately, as well as the Best Male Video for “Mirrors.”
