The audience may have long left the building of the San Diego Convention Center where the 2010 Comic Con was held, but the previews and panels of three upcoming releases have surely not left their consciousness. Resident Evil: Afterlife
Why: It’s the fourth installment of this very popular horror/action franchise based on the very popular video game. Resident Evil star and heroine Milla Jovovich plus director Paul W.S. Anderson are both back in the saddle again and this time around all of the action is in 3-D.
Who: Jovovich, former Prison Break inmate Wentworth Miller, Ali Lauter, of Obsessed fame and star of the new NBC spy drama series, Undercovers Boris Kodjoe
When: Resident Evil: Afterlife plays at a theater near you September 10th
Why: Red stands for “Retired Extremely Dangerous” and is based on the comic book about an old school but deadly group of ex-CIA agents. The film features an all-star cast and the movie is not only action-packed and exciting but funny too.
Who: Stars Morgan Freeman, Bruce Willis, John Malkovich, Richard Dreyfuss and Helen Mirren? Yes, that Helen Mirren, the one from The Queen.
When: Red hits theaters October 15th
Why: It’s the sequel to the 1982 Disney film about a man entering the digital world. Tron: Legacy is shot entirely in 3D using cameras developed by James Cameron. The actors added to the third dimensional action by wearing custom-made illuminated suits wired with electricity.
Who: Stars Jeff Bridges (reprising his role from the original) again as his older and wiser character present-day and as his younger cinematic self with the help computer generated special effects. Also co-stars former America’s Top Model alum and The Kids Are Alright beauty Ya Ya DaCosta.
When: Tron: Legacy arrives in theaters December 17th
