3 Things We Learned From Drake’s ‘Over’ Snippet

Clover Hope / March 4, 2010

It’s what y’all all been waiting for, ain’t it? Drake’s first Thank Me Later single is supposed to drop at the stroke of midnight. Until then, all we have is a 13-second soundbyte (or 14, depending which audio you find) of the anticipated Boi-1Da-produced track. We’ll see what the song is really about when it officially hits the Net, but in the meantime, here are 3 quick things we learned* from what we heard. The wait is over in 5…4…3…

Lyrics: “Way too many people here right now that I didn’t know last year/Who the fuck are y’all?/I swear it feels like the last few nights, we been everywhere and back, but/I just can’t remember at all.”

1. Unless the poor audio is tricking our Web-trained ears, that sounds like a soul sample in the background

2. Drake doesn’t like bandwagon folks. When you go from a Toronto unknown to hip-hop’s biggest hype, expect big changes

3. His memory’s fuzzy from drinking too much. A 24-hour champagne diet can do that to you

*We could be wrong. We’ll hear the song in full context tonight
