The chills down your spine won’t be caused by the air conditioning system in the movie theater. The goosebumps will appear from being captivated by Fruitvale Station, the gripping, award-winning film on Oscar Grant III played by Michael B. Jordan.
The 22-year-old was shot and killed by a Bay Area police officer on January 1, 2009 at the Frutivale BART station in Oakland, Calif. after him and his three friends were arrested and detained at the train stop. He was unarmed and died after doctors took Grant off a breathing machine. His untimely death sparked protests across the country and, subsequently, this emotional Ryan Coogler-directed film.
Fruitvale takes viewers on a journey through Oscar Grant’s last day before his murder.
