Could 50 Cent be trying to get funny or die trying? While prepping the release of his forthcoming LP Animal Ambition, slated to drop this summer, the Queens rapper just announced that he will be staring alongside Nia Long and Bridesmaids' breakout star, Melissa McCarthy, in an upcoming comedy flick.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson is playing himself in the Paul Feig-directed film, Spy. The comedy will star McCarthy, who will take on the role of a CIA analyst who’s just going into the field for the first time. Jude Law and Jason Statham, who will accompany McCarthy's character in playing spies. Actors Nia Long, Miranda Hart, Bobby Cannavale and British comedienne Rose Bryne have also been cast.
Ever since 50 made his acting debut in Get Rich or Die Tryin’ back in 2005, the mogul has been off and on the big screen. While the rapper is only playing himself in the upcoming comedy, Jackson has more than bulked up his acting credentials, recently staring alongside acting legends Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sylvester Stallone in last year’s Escape Plan, and just wrapping a crime action film with Bruce Willis and John Crusack.
Upon the announcement of his upcoming comedy hustle, Fif tweeted, "I be hustling like a motherfvcker right LMAO THIS IS A BIG ONE."
