Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson once starred in a movie based on his life story, titled Get Rich Or Die Tryin’.
Since his film debut in 2005, he has played a number of serious roles to show his range as an actor. Recently, Jackson took on his most dramatic role yet, capturing a football player diagnosed with cancer.
This Saturday, All Things Fall Apart, will make its world broadcast premiere on BET. While Jackson has played a drug dealer and a detective for different roles in his acting career, this time he was taken out of his comfort zone and has received many praises from media. Director and co-star Mario Van Peebles told BET.com in September, “[50 Cent] really has a natural sense for acting.”
Early reports of Jackson’s 80-pound weight loss to prepare for the role surfaced in mid-2010 with wild speculation from celebrity gossip blogs The hip-hop mogul cleared up the rumors by explaining he was preparing for a movie role.
All Things Fall Apart is about Deon (Jackson), an ambitious college football player striving to play professionally when his future becomes hindered after he is diagnosed with cancer.
The film also stars Mario Van Peebles, Lynn Whitfield and Ray Liotta. Fans can watch the movie exclusively on BET before it hits theaters on December 3, 2011 at 9:30 P/8:30 C. --Eric Diep
