1. Their ability to make rap/R&B songs that don’t completely suck…
A rapper with any level of mainstream success needs a catalogue of songs that cater to females. Rick Ross and Biggie are no exception. But most artists sacrifice whatever artistic merit they have to create these types of songs. B.I.G. never did, appealing to both sexes with rap/R&B mashes like “Sky’s The Limit,” “Fuck U Tonight” and “One More Chance (Remix).” Ross has done the same thing, creating tracks like “Here I Am,” “Magnificent” and his latest hit, “Super High” that are more than just blatant attempts at getting a few extra radio spins. They’re actually pretty good.

2. Their epic attempts at creating music videos…
Rick Ross knows how to make a pretty captivating music video. From the glitz and glamour of “Speedin” to the penthouse views of “The Boss” to the F. Gary Gray-directed shots for “Super High,” Ross turns his videos into events. B.I.G. often did the same thing. From the party scenes in the video for “Big Poppa” to the boat scenes from “Hypnotize,” it’s hard to forget the classic clips he put together. Their grandiose visions were similar.

3. Their trademark fashion choices…
People know Ross for his beard, his sunglasses and his fitted caps, just like they knew Biggie for his Coogi sweaters, head-to-toe Versace and Kangols. Some rappers just have a certain look about them, and these two definitely fit that bill.
