Fifth-Graders Arrested in Murder Plot to Kill Students

A pair of fifth-grade boys were arrested and charged with conspiracy to commit murder at Fort Colville Elementary School in Washington state.

According to officials, the boys, ages 10 and 11, were held on $100,000 bond each for their crimes. The students allegedly plotted to kill a number of their classmates with a gun and knife that they had brought into school. They're expected to be charged in juvenile court with conspiracy to commit first-degree murder, possession of a firearm and witness tampering.

"These young men conspired to kill," Stevens County Prosecutor Tim Rasmussen said. "It was interrupted by the bravery of a fourth grader who saw something and said something ... and interrupted a murder."

The School District's superintendent, Michael Cashion, spoke out on the incident.

"We've been told that the boys had a plan to kill an ex-girlfriend ... and harm other students," Cashion said. "There was no list, but names were given to the police."
