Tyler Perry Sued Over 'Good Deeds' Plot

Tyler Perry Sued Over 'Good Deeds' Plot

VIBE Posted November 28, 2012

Tyler Perry has found himself in the middle of another lawsuit regarding the originality of one of his films.

American author Terri Donald aka TLO Red'ness says Perry based his movie, Good Deeds, on her '07 book, Bad Apples Can Be Good Fruit. She claims to have sent a copy of her book to Perry's company well before they were documented to have begun shooting.

Donald says she made contact before production even began and seeks $225,000 in initial damages. She is also fighting for an injunction requiring the company to add a credit for her book in the opening and closing credits.

Her lawsuit calls for the company to provide an accounting of the movie's revenues. According to Reuters, Good Deeds made $35 million at the box office in February. It was released by Lion Gates Entertainment.

Representatives did not respond to requests for comment at press time.
