With his Godzilla publicity schedule firmly in tact, the Kick-Ass 2 star is ready to Pietro Maximoff, better known as Quicksilver, in Marvel's Avengers: Age of Ultron.
Taylor-Johnson closed his deal yesterday (Oct. 30), as the parties involved worked out his availability to properly promote Gareth Edwards' creature feature and shoot the Avengers sequel with no glaring overlap.
While Marvel has no comment on the breakdown of Aaron Taylor-Johnson's contract, the role of Quicksilver, a mutant offspring of Magneto who possesses superhuman speed, is fitting seeing as how he is one of Hollywood's hottest young actors. The 23-year-old talent has been labeled as the frontrunner to play the X-gened character since June 7, when word first broke about Marvel's interest in the British actor.
Quicksilver is one of two new characters that director Joss Whedon is introducing in the sequel, along with the Scarlet Witch. They are twins, yet their father Magneto, will not appear in the Avengers sequel.
Taylor-Johnson now is officially on board and joins Robert Downey, Jr., Chris Hemsworth, Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Scarlett Johansson, Samuel L. Jackson, Jeremy Renner and James Spader in the action-adventure picture, which hits theaters on May 1, 2015.
His appearance in Legendary's Godzilla reboot will find him starring alongside Bryan Cranston and Elizabeth Olsen, who will play the Scarlet Witch in Avengers: Age of Ultron, which will arrive early 2014.
