Lionsgate has just announced that Evan Ross, a star on Fox's 90210 show, will play Messalla in the final two chapters of The Hunger Games series.
The son of legendary singer Diana Ross will play Cressida's (Natalie Dormer) cameraman in The Hunger Games: Mockingjay — Part 1 and Part 2. Ross' character is taken directly from Suzanne Collins' Hunger Games novels, in which he helps capture footage of Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) leading a rebellion against the powerful Capitol.
With credits that include Jeff, Who Lives at Home, ATL and The Family Tree, Evan definitely has the chops to pull off the character. Producers have been running around lining up several actors for roles over the last few weeks, with Australian actress Stef Dawson also cast in the movies as Annie Cresta, love interest to Sam Claflin's Finnick Odair.
Directed by Francis Lawrence, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay follows Katniss Everdeen's continued journey as she leads the districts of Panem in a rebellion against the tyrannical and corrupt Capitol. The war grows and as tensions rise, this will determine the fate of the citizens of Panem, and Katniss must decide for herself who she can trust and what needs to be done in order to keep her world in balance.
Production on the final two movies will begin this year for release in November 21, 2014 and November 20, 2015, respectively.
The Hunger Games: Mockingjay — Part 1 and Part 2 also stars Josh Hutcherson and Liam Hemsworth, who both once again will lead the cast. Francis Lawrence's The Hunger Games: Catching Fire will hit theaters on November 22, 2013.
