The father of late actress Brittany Murphy suggests that his daughter's death may have been due to tainted drugs. According to the New York Daily News, Angelo Bertolotti wanted law enforcement to reopen the case as he conducted an independent investigation that “found high levels of toxic metals, including Barium, which is used in some rat poisons, in hair that reportedly belonged to Murphy.”
"The lab has shown that she was poisoned with criminal intent," he told the newspaper. "We would like the investigation opened again to discover who did it. So as not to jeopardize the new investigation, I can't say who I suspect as of yet."
However, sources close to the Uptown Girls actress’ mother, Sharon Murphy, speculate when the hair sample was made available to the father, especially since Sharon is the “sole heir” to her daughter’s estate.
The 8 Mile star was 32 when she died in December 2009.
