The 52-year-old actress will star alongside Jennifer Lawrence and Liam Hemsworth to play President Alma Coin in The Hunger Games: Mockingjay parts one and two.
Julianne Moore was recently confirmed for the role. She will join the returning cast from The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, which hits theaters this November 22. The announcement was made on Friday (9/13) by the film's distributor Lionsgate.
For those unfamiliar with Suzanne Collins' wildly popular franchise, Mockingjay is the final novel in the series, and finds Jennifer Lawrence's Katniss Everdeen fulfilling a rebellion against the Capitol. Moore as President Alma Coin will take her District 13 and lead them into battle against the Capital, in hopes of bringing their reign of terror to an end.
The Francis Lawrence directed two-part finale is a healthy addition to the franchise, as it is the 14th highest grossing North American film of all time earning nearly $700 million worldwide. Audiences can look forward to seeing the Boogie Nights star alongside her younger compatriots when Mockingjay, Part 1 opens on November 21, 2014, and Part 2 will follow on November 20, 2015.
