Adele’s ’21’ Sets New Record As The First Album To Sell 3 Million Digital Copies
Since hitting diamond status in 2012, Adele’s breakthrough sophomore effort 21, broke another record as the first album to sell over three million digital copies, Rolling Stone reports.
Her 10-track project remained at the number one spot on Billboard’s year-end chart list in 2011 and 2012, also solidifying 21 as the first album to top the list consecutively, SoundScan said.
After having surgery to repair her strained vocal chords and giving birth to a baby boy two years ago, the “Skyfall” singer reportedly has plans to get back in the studio, telling Rolling Stone, “I’ve just been singing my baby nursery rhymes, so I don’t really know what’s cool and what’s not. I’m definitely going to visit with [producer] Paul Epworth and talk about doing that again.”
