Today, Alicia Keys — a co-founder and global ambassador for Keep A Child Alive — ditched the U.S. and flew over to the Philippines to visit hundreds of Typhoon Haiyan evacuees. She visited the Villamor Airbase in Pasay City, Phillipines to talk to children and give out coloring books and crayons before heading over to her concert at the MOA Arena in Manilla.

She told the Philippine Star that her purpose was to lift whatever spirits she could while there. “Music has a way of lifting your spirit and that’s what I hope to do for the Filipino people,” she said.
