The new year means a clean slate for Alicia Keys. After a year-long partnership with BlackBerry as their first-ever Global Creative Director, she and the mobile company have parted ways. According to CTV News, the songstress will officially step down from the position Jan. 30.
While some will question if the split was due to disloyalty to the brand (Keys allegedly posted a message to her twitter via an iPhone shortly after the partnership began), BlackBerry insists that while she was onboard, she had direct involvement in its operations, attended several corporate events and worked on a four-year scholarship program encouraging young women to consider science and technology fields.
"We have enjoyed the opportunity to work with such an incredibly talented and passionate individual," BlackBerry said in a statement.
